Hundred House Inn

The Hundred House Inn

The Hundred House was so named as for at least 300 years a court of the Hundred House was held there. The court was held from around 1524 and continued until 1867 when both the Hundred Court and the Petty Sessions Court were transferred to Penybont. During the 18th Century the parochial church council was held at the Hundred House.

The Hundred was originally the gathering together of a hundred families and later a hundred townships. The work of the Hundred Court was of great importance in local affairs because it touched the everyday life of the community.
